Why on Earth is this here?

Once, about 15 years ago, I made fun of a friend who was keeping a diary on his computer. "Why do you need to type it in?" I asked. "Why can't you just write it longhand like a normal human?"

Ahem. Sorry, J, you'll never read this, but I was wrong and you were right.

Blogs are upon us. You know they are, because I finally have one of my own.

I am the most boring human and have little to say for myself, but since I took up knitting in November '04 I've been making stuff left and right and I needed a place to keep a catalog of pictures and information about my creations. That's what this is for. No more, no less, at least for now.

Why the title? I'm also a singer, so ballad just seemed right. And since I've never crafted anything except the occasional cross-stitch or paper snowflake since, well, forever, (and I pretty much failed pottery and stuff like that in art class), I am truly the unlikeliest of crafters.
